OUR GOVERNORS

Foreward by the Chair of Governors

I am delighted to be able to introduce you to Lanesfield Primary School on behalf of the Governors.

We are rightly proud of our school. It has served the community for many years and has provided thousands of children with the very best start in their education.

There is a strong multi-cultural ethos running through all that we do and an emphasis upon the rounded development of each child.

Discipline is firm and fair and is always coupled with concern for the child. In this school you will find a dedicated staff team and a wonderful family atmosphere.

Who we are

Zoe Rollinson – Staff Governor

I am Head Teacher as well as Governor at Lanesfield.

I joined Lanesfield in 2011 as Deputy Head Teacher and became Head Teacher in 2015. Previous to working at Lanesfield I have worked across many schools, been a civil servant, ran my own business and when I first left school trained in fitness and beauty therapy. I have a wide range of working experience across different sectors.

As you can imagine during my career I have used many different skills and continued to learn as I went along. I bring these skills to our Governing Board along with a day-to-day knowledge of our school in action.

As Governors we have three key roles:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.

  • Holding the Head Teacher to account for the educational performance of pupils.

  • Overseeing financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

My day-to-day world revolves around these three things. I feel it is imperative that as a Governing Board we have the same clarity of vision, ethos and direction to ensure all pupils have the opportunity to thrive and become secondary ready with a love of learning as well as a recognition of their own significance.

I feel proud to work at our school as both a member of the Governing Board and as Head Teacher. I will continue to strive hard to ensure just like our children we continue to work hard and be the best they can be.

Karon Budding – Local Authority Governor (Co Chair of Governors)

I became a Governor to support the school in all of the excellent work that it does, whilst providing challenge to ensure we are the best that we can be at Lanesfield.

My vision is to enable the children to achieve to their fullest potential, supported by high quality teaching in a safe environment.

Hannah Langhorn – Co Opted Governor (Co Chair of Governors)

I became a Governor because I believe in our school and the children in our in community and I have seen three of my own children complete their own Primary careers at Lanesfield. The safe, inclusive environment that encourage all to be the best they can is one that I am very proud of.  I think that Primary school is where children can discover their love of learning a journey that lasts their whole life and we know that Lanesfield Loves Learning.

Sam Davidson – Staff Governor

I became a governor to be more involved with the wider life of the school and to make a difference for the children and parents of Lanesfield.

My vision is to be the very best we can be and to equip children with the skills and attributes, to be well rounded, independent and aspirational life-long learners.

I am very proud to be part of the Lanesfield family.

Governor Diversity

As a school we recognise that a diversity of thought, voices and perspectives is essential to good governance and the effective running of any organisation. We regularly collect diversity information from our governors and, depending on current data, can use this to:

  • Target recruitment to address gaps in experience and diversity

  • Develop and adapt board practices to ensure full participation

  • Prioritise training and awareness-raising in identified areas

  • Address potential ‘blind spots’ through seeking wider advice and perspectives on current and upcoming opportunities, challenges and risks

However, we are unable to publish information about the diversity of our governing board and its committees as doing so would mean that individual members of our governing body would be identifiable.
