Subject Intent

 

Art is a vital, integral and valuable part of education. It provides opportunities to develop a range of ways to express creativity and make links with art in society.

At Lanesfield our intent is to engage, inspire and challenge pupils, while equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, create and invent different works of art. To recognise art is developed through experiences and the importance of learning about art through the eyes of great artists.

This is achieved through an immersive curriculum, pupils are encouraged to develop their critical thinking and to establish a more thorough understanding of art and design centred around great artists. Pupils have the opportunity to extend different styles and skills by incorporating a range of materials and media. Further consolidated as all pupils then reflective and evaluate their work to make changes and improvements.
